“Change will never happen when people lack the ability and courage to see themselves for who they are.”

Make change happen

The challenge to make change happen is to understand what you see, react in a sustainable manner and get moving. Somekind of framework might be helpful in order to avoid too much freewheeling leading to nowhere. There are some insights from organizational theory and change management that can be combined into a solid and recognizable process model that leads to practical knowledge for each specific situation and change. Such a model serves as a framework that allows participants to change the consequences of their views and opportunities for action to eachother and learn to relate to the context. We approach change according to the multidimensional model of van den Nieuwenhof (2005) and pay attention to

  • the top down design approach versus the bottom-up development approach
  • system perspectives such as strategy, structure and culture
  • a phasing over time (stage of unfreeze, change, refreeze)
  • influencing conditions and constraints.
