BICC development

Setting up a Business Intelligence Competency Center needs to be done in balance with the current organization and the way decisions are taken. This needs a good understanding of the current decision-making processes and political sensitivities and a good view on the elasticity of the organization towards change. Balancing these factors is needed in order to embed the BICC into the organization at the proper level and with maximum leverage possible.

Formulating advice on how to set up the BICC needs about two weeks of preparation followed by two weeks of design. The deliverable is a BICC implementation roadmap, which is normally executed in parallel with the compilation of the BI architectural roadmap. Implementing the BICC takes much more time and is normally facilitated in a coaching mode since it depends heavily on the experience of the people available in the team and the complexity of the organization.
